We are pleased to announce that Michael Arsenault has accepted a junior position in ancient philosophy in the Department of Philosophy, and comes to Toronto from August 1, 2025. Michael works on Aristotle, especially Aristotle’s theory of perception.

Rareș Ilie Marinescu, a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Classics, has just seen his monograph into print with CUP. Proclus on Aristotle on Plato: A Case Study on Motion is now available – and is open access as well. Congratulations, Rareș!

We are very excited that Stephen Menn (FRSC) will be moving to Toronto from January 2026 as the inaugural holder of the Michael and Virginia Walsh Chair in the History of Philosophy. He will retain his link with the Humboldt University of Berlin, where he is an Honorary Professor. Stephen’s appointment will be in the Department of Philosophy, but he will also be a member of the Graduate Faculty in Classics. Welcome, Stephen!
